I just started a new tank as well and put in water conditioner and a bacteria supplement. Since its a newly started up fish tank, you should cycle your fish. Some say that you should keep the tank running for about a money or so and keep adding some fish food for the bacteria to "munch" on. You need some beneficial bacteria in your tank.
Wait a couple of days, it should go away. Mine went away after 2 days. I've heard you should wait a least a month for fishless cycling (i dont have that much time)
Others say only to add about 2 fish to help it cycle and then after a month add more.
I waited 9 days and will buy my fish today, no couldiness. I dont wanna waste my time or m oney by buying a testing kit. Only buy about 2 fish, (I have a 10 gallon), i would suggest u buy 2 or 3.
there is a product made to clear water. try it and if that doesnt work, start over.
Not sure why the water is cloudy, maybe you didn't rinse the gravel/pebbles well enough or even the filter media. If that is the case it should clear up in a couple of days. While waiting you may want to do several water changes. Also please research cycling the tank prior to adding fish once the water clears up.
I don't know any sites for this offhand but about.com should have stuff and I'm sure there is at least one question on here about cycling.
maybe you need fish in the tank
Get a product called Aquaclear. Works like a charm.
Did you wash the gravel thoroughly before putting it in the tank? If the tank's been clear up until now, then sediment from the gravel probably isn't a problem.

If you've started cycling the tank at all you might have a bacteria problem. It can take a few months for a tank's bacteria community to settle down and work effeciently. You could do a small water change to help clear up the tank. Did you use any cleaning products when setting up the tank? Ammonia from these could have caused the bacteria to bloom. These blooms can be harmful to fish, but since you don't have any that's not a worry.

The easiest way to deal with this is small water changes every few days, and the cloudiness should go away as there's no new food for the bacteria being added to the tank. Or just leave the tank and it will sort itself out, but it might take a bit longer.

Also, if you used a conditioner like Cycle then that can cause the bacterial cloudy water.
I have ran aquariums for most of my life and I have had this problem. It is residue from something in the tank. First change your filter. It also depends on your filter type.( I run 2. An under gravel filter and a power filter that hangs on the back.) If after changing the filter it doesn't clear up in about 3 days. Change 1/3 of the water and change the filter again. Hope this helps. Keep changing the filter about every 3-4 days and it should clear up.
Getting a straight answer for this question is immpossible. Everone has their own idea's as to why an aquarium clouds up a few days after cleaning. I do know that there is several ways to clear this up though.Usually after a couple days it'll clear up, but if not any pet supplier sells a product just for cloudy water. You could also do a 25 - 50 percent water chage. Or you could change the filter although this really isn't a cause. I hope this helps.
Put a single feeder fish in the tank and wait a few days. Good feeder fish are the wild form of guppies, small goldfish and what are called something like rosy rasboras. They can handle the stress of a newly started tank and will encourage the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gravel and filters. The water should either clear up on its own in the meanwhile or you can take a water sample to the pet store so you can buy the appropriate water conditioner.
