i bought a male crown tail fighting fish two weeks ago and it wont eat the betta food, whats wrong with him?

Answers:
Those little pellets are hard for a fish with no teeth to digest. Try buying color enhancing flake food. The uneaten food will make him sick very rapidly so make sure you are changing the water regularly.

If you purchased your fish from a pet store you could call them and find out what they feed their fish and then offer him the same type of food. The best thing to do would be to get a hold of the supplier that you got your fish from and ask they what they were feeding him before you purchased him. The other thing to do is to do an online search as to the many different items that bettas consume in their diet and then offer him a very small amount of each one of these items, one at a time, until you find one that he likes. Make sure that he is in clean, properly treated water and that he is in a container that is the proper size for him. Also, depending on how he was transported to your home he may be in travel shock and it may take another day or so for him to become acclimated and to eat. The other thing you may try is to purchase a betta feeding block from a pet store and place that in his container. These items are commercially made for people to feed their bettas while they go on vacation, etc. Just be sure to follow all directions and be sure not to overfeed your fish. If he has not eaten the food that you have offered in 15 minutes be sure to remove it from the water so that the water does not become contaminated and kill your fish. The only food that does not fall under this rule is the "vacation" feeding blocks. If he still hasn't eaten anything in the next two days you should contact a vet by phone for suggestions. If he hasn't eaten for 2 weeks I would be worried about his survival. Check his water quality. Maybe the pH is too low or too high - depends what he was used to. It should be neutral 7.0. The water might be high in ammonia too especially if it is a new tank. This is easily caused by feeding him and leaving the food in the water which will cause a build up of ammonia.
To keep your fish healthy, every few days you should change at least half of the water in your Betta bowl. First, remove half of the old water. Then mix the hot and cold tap water until it is the same temperature as the water your Betta is swimming in. Next fill a container with tap water and add a water conditioner to remove the disinfectants that are toxic to your fish. Now, refill your Betta bowl to the usual level. If you are keeping your Betta in an aquarium you should perform a partial water change every week. Whenever you are adding or changing water you will need to add a water conditioner to protect your fish.

Have you been feeding all this time, and he hasn't been eating? I would be worried. 1 week is the longest time a betta can go him food without issues. I've never heard of a betta lastly more than 3 weeks. Not eating is odd. Some betta are picky eaters, but they will start eating anything after a few days.

What are you feeding him? How does he react to food? Have you been changing his water?

I'd change his water, and temp him with food. (Lightly rub the surface of the water, and 1 or 2 pieces in.)
