Probably leeches get rid of them can be problematic. On Google or your favorite search enging put in the word leeches and select pictures. You will hoepfully find a picture of the leech that is in your pond.

Good links:
This link has a leech trap suggestion.

Never heard of leeches in this country ( usa ). There is in Africa though..
Of course there are leeches in the States and UK. And its really difficult to get rid of them, because they lay eggs around the pond.

Hers a few sites on Google, good luck!
In Britain leeches are quite common in wet areas as well as ponds. these are not normally the medicinal kind. They are harmless to humans so leave them alone.

Have you noticed any dead fish on the shore or afloat on the top water?

If not - don't worry. Not all leeches are dangerous to fish. In fact - they are part of their diet.
if you have a pond you probably have leeches, they can be carried by fish or plants
the best medicine to use would be CLOUT but for a pool that size it will be expensive ( I order mine from a pet supply co)
you could use rock salt, 1 lb per 100 gallons
one really rainy spring the leeches on the ground hatched and crawled up the side of my house looking for water, it was like a Hitchcock movie!
you could halfway empty your pond while you treat it, that way you don't have to treat as much
Good Luck
