i have a tropical fish tank and i had whitspot all the fish died i done a 50% water change when can i add fish

Answers:
yes I would treat the tank then do a 75-80% water change before adding fish
Sounds like "ick". Have you applied the right medicine to the water to ensure the ick is gone?
if the whitespots that killed all the fish were the parasite called ICH, then there is a 30 day life span of that parasite. if you put in fish before that then that fish will be the new place for the parasites to breed. therefore you need to wait over 30 days with no fish in the tank to beat ich

if you want to avoid getting ich in the future here is some advice

get a UV sterilizer.. it zaps the parasites.
if you think they have it soak their food in some garlic elixir, garlic repels parasites..

overall, as long as you can keep the fish eating, he will fight off the parasites with their natural immune system.. keep them eating..
you need to still treat the tank and kill the disease before you add any new fish
You could take a sample of the water to a speciliat pet shop for them to do a PH check on it. They can then let you know what type of fish will live better in it. My parents have a tropical tank and the water quality only allows tetras to live in there so they cant keep guppies and other types. Good Luck.
if you dont have any fish,, raise the temperature of the water as much as you can for a few days over 85degrees,, this parasite cannot survive high temperature.

Once you add fish,, if they get ick again. you can get this medicine called Ick guard. it turns the water blue,, you have to remove the carbon from the filter,,, this worked well for me.. I got rid of all the ick.

If you want to prevent this.. try to keep the temp. stable. .temperature changes affect the fish's inmune system and ick will take over.. when you do water changes make sure the water is the same temp or a few degrees higher..

Best wishes
if all your fish have died i would take all the water out and scrub everything down really well with vinegar even the rocks you might want to wash in boiling water scrub the tank down good with vinegar and hot water and replace your filter in case it is contaminated you never no where its at once it has been contaminated and seance its empty why not clean it good to make sure u got the infection out my philosophy is y do it over and over when you can do it the right way once!!
